Understanding the Preferences Panel
The Preferences panel organizes your notification controls into expandable sections. Here's what you'll find:
Global Preferences
Master controls that apply across all workflows. Toggle Email and In-App notifications on or off at the highest level.
Schedule
Define quiet hours when notifications are paused. Set active notification windows for each day of the week.
Workflow Sections
Each workflow appears as its own expandable section. Customize Email and In-App toggles per workflow.
Back to Inbox
Click the back arrow or "Preferences" header to return to your notification inbox at any time.

Configuring Global Preferences
Global Preferences act as your master notification switches. When you expand this section, you'll see two toggles that control notification delivery across your entire Ontario environment.
| Toggle | What It Controls | Default |
|---|---|---|
|
Email
|
Enables or disables all email notifications. When off, you won't receive any notification emails regardless of workflow-specific settings. | On |
|
In-App
|
Enables or disables notifications in your Inbox. When off, notifications won't appear in the Notification Center while you're using Ontario. | On |
Global vs. Workflow Settings: Think of global preferences as a master switch. If you turn off Email globally, no workflow-specific email settings will send messages—even if they're enabled. Workflow settings only apply when the corresponding global preference is on.
Workflow-Specific Preferences
Below Global Preferences, you'll see individual sections for each workflow in your Ontario environment. This allows you to fine-tune which workflows warrant immediate attention and which can wait.
Example: ontario-standard-alert
Expanding a workflow section (like "ontario-standard-alert") reveals the same Email and In-App toggles. The label below the workflow name shows which channels are currently enabled (e.g., "Email, In-App" or just "In-App").
To configure a specific workflow:
- Click the workflow name to expand its settings
- Toggle Email on or off based on whether you want email alerts for this workflow
- Toggle In-App on or off based on whether you want Inbox notifications for this workflow
- Changes save automatically—no save button needed
High-Priority Workflows
For workflows tied to critical deadlines or compliance tasks, consider enabling both Email and In-App notifications. This ensures you receive alerts even when you're away from Ontario.
Setting Up a Notification Schedule
The Schedule feature lets you define when you want to receive notifications. This is perfect for maintaining work-life balance or protecting focus time during deep work sessions.
Common schedule configurations:
- Standard business hours: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Extended availability: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Weekday mornings only: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM
