How Notifications Reach You
Ontario delivers notifications through two channels, giving you flexibility in how you stay informed. You can enable one or both depending on your workflow preferences.
In-App
Real-timeNotifications appear in your Inbox immediately when events occur. Perfect for staying current while actively working in Ontario.
Instant delivery while logged in
Receive email alerts for important updates even when you're not logged in. Ideal for time-sensitive notifications.
Catch up when away from Ontario
Choose what works for you: Some users prefer in-app only to reduce email volume, while others enable both channels so they never miss critical updates. You can customize these settings globally or per workflow in your notification preferences.
Managing Your Inbox
The Notification Center Inbox provides several views to help you organize and prioritize notifications. Use the dropdown menu to filter what you see.
| Filter | What It Shows | When to Use |
|---|---|---|
| Unread & Read | All active notifications, both new and previously viewed | Default view for complete visibility |
| Unread Only | Only notifications you haven't opened yet | Focus on new items requiring attention |
| Snoozed | Notifications you've temporarily dismissed | Review items you set aside for later |
| Archived | Notifications you've cleared from your active inbox | Reference historical notifications |
Individual Notification Actions
Hover over any notification to reveal quick action buttons. These let you manage notifications one at a time without leaving your inbox.
Mark as Read
Clear the unread indicator without taking further action. The notification stays in your inbox.
Snooze
Temporarily hide the notification. It moves to your Snoozed filter until the snooze period ends.
Archive
Remove from your active inbox. Archived notifications can still be found in the Archived filter.
To dive deeper into a notification, click directly on it. Depending on the notification type, this will take you to the relevant item—whether that's a project, task, folder, or comment thread—so you can see the full context and take action.
Bulk Actions
When your inbox accumulates notifications, use the three-dot menu () to perform bulk actions and quickly get organized.

Workflow-Specific Notifications
Beyond global preferences, Ontario allows you to configure notification settings for individual workflows. This gives you granular control over which workflow activities generate alerts.
Per-Workflow Customization
In your notification preferences, you'll see each workflow listed separately. Toggle Email and In-App notifications on or off for each workflow based on its importance to your role. High-priority workflows might warrant both channels, while informational workflows may only need in-app alerts.

Understanding Notification Details
Each notification in your inbox contains key information to help you understand what happened and take action quickly.
Notification Schedule
Ontario's Schedule feature lets you define quiet hours—specific days and times when non-critical notifications are paused. This helps you maintain focus during deep work or preserve work-life balance outside business hours.
Set Your Quiet Hours
In your notification preferences, toggle on Schedule to set notification windows for each day of the week. Choose which days are active and define "From" and "To" times for when you want to receive notifications. Outside these hours, notifications are held until your schedule resumes.
Note: Critical and In-App notifications may still reach you outside your schedule for urgent matters.
